On March 21, the Opening Ceremony for the Spring Semester of 2026 at the overseas teaching site of Jiangxi Fenglin College of Foreign Economy and Trade was grandly held at Sengmany International School in Vientiane, Laos. Representatives from both China and Laos gathered together to mark the beginning of the new semester and to open a new chapter in the international cooperation between the two schools.

The ceremony officially commenced with the solemn national anthems of China and Laos. In his speech, Zhang Jiangnan, Director of the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation of Jiangxi Fenglin College of Foreign Economy and Trade, stated that since the college established its overseas teaching site at Sengmany International School in 2024, the two sides have achieved fruitful results in areas such as cultural exchange, joint curriculum development, and student progression opportunities. He emphasized that the college has always been committed to serving the Belt and Road Initiative by building a high-quality platform for Laotian students to learn Chinese and acquire a better understanding of Chinese culture, and continuously cultivating international talents who know China well and foster friendship with China.

As the flagship program of the overseas teaching site, the “Fenglin Chinese Classroom” sends Chinese Language Volunteers selected by the college to Laos each year to carry out Chinese language teaching, who has been warmly welcomed by local students. To date, the classroom has trained hundreds of Laotian students, and some outstanding participants have successfully continued their studies at Jiangxi Fenglin College of Foreign Economy and Trade.

In recent years, the college has actively explored new pathways for the internationalization of vocational education. Relying on its overseas teaching site in Laos, the college has continuously deepened practical cooperation with Laotian universities and enterprises. In December 2024, Rao Deda, Chairman of the College Board, led a delegation to visit the American College Laos, Lao Pipeline Company, and Sengmany International School, and also attended the plaque-unveiling ceremony for the overseas teaching site, laying a solid foundation for further in-depth cooperation between the two sides.

Kouky, Principal of Sengmany International School, expressed her gratitude for the long-term support provided by Jiangxi Fenglin College of Foreign Economy and Trade. She pointed out that the establishment of the overseas teaching site has pprovided valuable learning opportunities for Laotian students. In particular, the continued advancement of the “Fenglin Chinese Classroom” has enabled more students to systematically learn the Chinese language, improve their language proficiency, and expand their opportunities for further education and employment.

The successful holding of this spring semester opening ceremony marks the comprehensive launch of all work for 2026 at the Laos overseas teaching site of Jiangxi Fenglin College of Foreign Economy and Trade. The college will continue to strengthen the development of the “Fenglin Chinese Classroom,” optimize the selection mechanism for Chinese Language Volunteers, and contribute Fenglin’s strength to promoting educational exchange and cooperation between China and Laos and deepening the friendship between the two countries.
